The Great War

Mt. Piana is a mountain with a long history but it is most famously associated with the Great War and the deep wounds it left. The Monte Piana Open Air Museum’s mission is to keep the memory of this period alive. A shuttle bus from Misurina to Rifugio Bosi takes you to the museum area or a straightforward hour and a half's walk takes you up on foot. Trenches, passageways and fortified lines with barbed wire all bring the past to life.
